Ethereum Nears $2,500 Resistance as Buying Pressure Builds

Ethereum has climbed from a major accumulation zone as falling exchange reserves point to continued accumulation of the asset, according to data cited by AMBCrypto.

The outlet reported that the Coinbase Premium Index remains close to zero but has not sustained positive territory, a condition last seen in October when ETH traded in the same $2,200 to $2,400 range it occupies now. Negative readings in recent months indicate that demand from U.S.-based investors has lagged demand on Binance. AMBCrypto noted that past strong ETH rallies, including the June-July 2025 run, coincided with strongly positive Coinbase Premium readings, and a similar move could follow if the $2,400 supply zone is cleared.

Citing crypto intelligence platform Alphractal, AMBCrypto reported that the current Ethereum investor price, the average acquisition cost for economically active holders, sits near $1,700. ETH tested this level in June before rallying, consistent with a historical pattern in which touches of or dips below this price have marked major accumulation zones.

The report said spot taker buying pressure has strengthened over the past ten days, based on the 90-day cumulative taker buy-sell volume difference, a signal AMBCrypto described as indicating aggressive institutional demand.

Ethereum is once again approaching its April swing high of $2,466, though AMBCrypto noted that a decisive breakout past this level has not yet materialized despite recent gains. The outlet said prices could sweep the highs before pulling back, and suggested holders and swing traders may consider taking partial profits while awaiting further confirmation.

AMBCrypto stated that a breakout above $2,500 would confirm a trend shift, while a rejection followed by a drop below $2,000 would indicate the long-term trend remains unchanged.
