Revolut Begins Rollout of EURR Stablecoin With Bridge
Revolut has begun rolling out EURR, its first euro-backed stablecoin, to selected customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal, according to a report from The Defiant. The stablecoin is being embedded directly into Revolut’s app, giving users access to a branded onchain euro token.
Bridge Building S.A. is serving as the issuer and redemption counterparty for EURR, providing the regulatory framework needed for the token’s launch, The Defiant reported. The staged rollout across the three European markets marks Revolut’s entry into the stablecoin space with its own branded asset.
According to figures cited by The Defiant, Bridge reported €374 million outstanding in EURR, compared with €394.5 million for Circle’s euro-backed stablecoin EURC. The comparison places Revolut’s new token in a similar range to one of the more established euro stablecoins already in circulation.
The move reflects a broader push by fintech and traditional finance firms to introduce their own stablecoin products as demand grows for onchain versions of fiat currencies. By working with a regulated issuer in Bridge Building S.A., Revolut is positioning EURR within existing European regulatory structures rather than launching an unregulated token.
The Defiant did not report additional details on planned timelines for expanding EURR beyond the initial three countries or further specifics on Revolut’s long-term stablecoin strategy.
